Standard Operating Procedures
Safety SOPs are intended to inform and educate laboratory personnel about hazards in their workplace and identify special handling procedures, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure. It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator or area supervisor to review and approve the SOPs ensuring that the protective equipment and procedures outlined are in place. All staff must be trained on the SOPs applicable to their work before conducting hazardous activities. Please refer to the General SOP Template for sections that should be included in a safety SOP.
If you would like EH&S to review your SOPs, please contact labsafety@ehs.ufl.edu.
Chemicals in Animals SOP Templates
The following SOP templates were developed in conjunction with Animal Care Services (ACS) and the IACUC office. These SOPs were generated to target the most commonly administered chemicals. Simultaneously, the IACUC office has developed standard procedures that match these SOPs. The intended purpose of these efforts is to streamline protocol preparation and to provide consistency across campus.
