Animal Contact

Will the individual have animal contact?

The University of Florida’s Animal Contact Program includes faculty, staff, students, and volunteers or visitors who have direct exposure to vertebrate animals and, in some cases, animal tissues, body fluids or wastes. Full Program details are available on the UF EH&S Animal Contact Program page.

Health Assessment Requirements

The preplacement health assessment for those with Animal Contact consists of a review by the UF OCCMED Clinic (The Clinic) of the individual’s completed Risk Assessment form that includes information about what animals are involved, the individual’s immunization record, and health history.

1. The department identifies this job duty.
   • The supervisor:
     • Completes the Supervisor Checklist.
     • Completes the type of animal contact the individual will have on the Risk Assessment for Animal Contact form.
     • Forwards the saved Risk Assessment for Animal Contact PDF file to the individual for completion of their medical history.
   • The hiring administrator:
     • Completes myUFL’s Organizational Development position information for positions with numbers, or
     • Completes the online INOP Form for Individuals Not on Positions.
     • Submits the Payment Authorization Form.
