Research materials in transit are subject to strict state, federal, and international regulations as well as UF policies governing safety and compliance. Recently, a peer university was fined $56,000 by the Federal Aviation Administration when two graduate students were found by TSA workers to have nearly 2 liters of flammable, research-grade ethyl alcohol and 120 milliliters of corrosive epoxy resin in their luggage. The students were unaware the materials were subject to hazardous materials regulations.  To familiarize or remind you of the requirements in place for movement of research materials, a quick summary and links to additional information and training can be found at http://www.ehs.ufl.edu/programs/bio/research-materials/.
