All employees have the right to work in an environment that is free of recognized hazards that may cause death or serious physical harm. The role of the Occupational Safety section is to establish policies, practices and procedures that, when followed, reduce the risk to University of Florida employees of injury while performing their job duties. Environmental Health and Safety has implemented policies that reflect the current standard of care for safe job performance. Occupational safety staff monitors compliance through periodic job site and maintenance shop inspections. Staff members are available to consult on any occupational safety issue and regular training classes are provided to make sure all stakeholders have the latest information relevant to performing their jobs in a safe manner.
