Effective January 2007 smoking is prohibited within 50 feet of all University of Florida buildings on the Gainesville campus.  This is an expansion of existing policy. 

The Florida Clean Indoor Air Act of 1992, implemented by Section 386.201 of the Florida Statutes, became effective October 1, 1992.  The act prohibits smoking in enclosed indoor areas and forbids designation of any smoking areas in educational facilities. 

In 2001, the Environmental Health and Safety Committee recommended a policy that permitted restriction of smoking outside of buildings with emphasis on pedestrian walkways and building air intake vents.  In 2002 a UF Rule was established to address these recommendations.

UAA Restrictions - Smoking is prohibited in all areas of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium with the exception of the designated smoking areas located in the North and South End Zones.
