Needle Stick – Biohazard Exposure Hotline

The UF Needlestick-Biopath program now encompasses biohazardous exposures that may occur on campus.

Instructions if you have had or suspect an exposure:

• If you are a University of Florida affiliate located in Gainesville:
   
  • For a needlestick, human blood or body fluid exposure, call (866) 477-6824 and click here for after-hours online assistance instructions.
     
  • For a biohazardous agent (human or zoonotic pathogen, recombinant DNA, biological toxin) exposure, call (866) 477-6824 immediately.
    • Inform the Biosafety Office 352-392-1591, bso@ehs.ufl.edu within 24 hr.
       
• If you are a University of Florida affiliate located outside of Gainesville, follow the resident institution’s protocols. If in doubt, go directly to the nearest emergency room.
  • Jacksonville UF employees go to the Employee Health Office in Suite 505, Tower 1, 5th and Jefferson from 7 AM to 4 PM. After hours go to the ER

Mission Statement
The mission of the Biological Safety Office is to reduce workplace injury due to biological hazards. To accomplish this, we provide the University of Florida community with the latest information and advice concerning the safe handling, containment, and disposal of biological agents. Our office monitors compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines that affect agricultural, biological, and biomedical research at the University of Florida.

What We Can Offer!
